With a style perpetually galvanized by darkness and haunting northern beauty, sisters Tiffany Ayalik and Inuksuk Mackay come together to create the Inuit style throat singing duo, PIQSIQ. Rooted in the Kitikmeot and Kivalliq Regions of Nunavut, Canada, the duo's music is a captivating fusion of ancient tradition and contemporary innovation.
Growing up in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Inuksuk and Tiffany were deeply influenced by the stark contrasts of the Arctic environment, where endless summer sunlight gives way to  long, wintery darkness. Bonded by their love for katajjaq, Inuit throat singing, the sisters honed their skills during childhood trips on the land, finding solace and connection in the ancient practice.
As they approached adulthood, Inuksuk and Tiffany embarked on a journey to reclaim and revitalize katajjaq, recognizing it not only as a musical expression but as a radical act of cultural resilience and decolonization. Drawing inspiration from their surroundings and personal experiences, PIQSIQ weaves intricate vocal harmonies and haunting melodies into compositions that transcend language, inviting listeners on a transformative sonic journey. In their live performances, PIQSIQ embraces improvisation, blending traditional throat singing techniques with modern looping technology to create dynamic, multi-layered soundscapes that evolve organically with each show. Their music reflects a deep reverence for Inuit heritage and a
commitment to innovation, resulting in a mesmerizing auditory experience that resonates with audiences worldwide.
To date, PIQSIQ has released five albums, including "Altering The Timeline," "Quviasugvik: In Search of Harmony," "Taaqtuq Ubluriaq: Dark Star," "PIQSIQ: Live from Christ Church Cathedral," and "Spectral Harmonies." With a dedication to blending magic with sound, Tiffany and Inuksuk continue to
captivate audiences, pushing the boundaries of traditional Inuit music and inspiring listeners across the globe.
